Not all Police Officers are bad: Wagambie

He said in every organization there are certain individuals that spoil the good reputation of an organisation but the rest perform their duty ethically.

Wagambie Jr was speaking at a press conference held recently regarding the death of an 18-year-old boy believed to have died from police brutality.

“There is no such organization that have every member performing perfectly, and that is the same in the police force, because there are many good police officers who worked tirelessly to ensure the community is safe while few behave unethically,” he said.

Criminals in Madang warned

It will be coordinated by Police with support from the Defense Force and Correctional Service.

The 2nd of December marked the launching of the Christmas and New Year’s police operations for Madang Province at the Bates Oval.

The official opening was launched by Governor Ramsey Pariwa and witnessed by Provincial Police Commander Acting Superintendent Robert Baim, Provincial Administrator Frank Lau, distinguished stakeholders, agencies and the general public.

Police officers deployed to assist at Games

They were deployed one month prior to the games to join forces with the Solomon Islands and other Pacific Island countries to ensure the game is conducted safely. 

Speaking during a press conference in Honiara recently, the Contingent Commander for the 17th Pacific Games, John Sagom said the RPNGC is set and ready to assist the Solomon Islands Police Force to mitigate any uprising crime that may occur during the games.

ESP police want payment before Maprik by-election

As the year ends and with Maprik by-elections tentatively scheduled for February next year, Tamari says it is time they release the funds now so police can prepare for the by-election.

 “I concluded the Wewak operation fund with literally no funding, and I will not go into this election until and unless the government release the funds,” Tamari said.

He said in every election there are two separate budget - one for the Electoral Commission and one for the police that is given to Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary to coordinate.

Police raise K41,000 to help fight cancer

The money was raised two weeks ago through the hosting of a sausage sizzle and the selling of customized T-shirts at the Boroko police station car park.

A total of 55 contributors consisting of 8 individuals and 47 business houses and groups contributed towards RPNGC’s Pinkober awareness.

Groups and individuals that assisted are 22 Fried Chicken, Okari Trading, MNH Trading, Lucky Horse Trading, City Point Restaurant, Gudpela Limited, and 2 Fast Motors to name a few.

Policing services return to HB

The people of Hanuabada have been without this service for the past nine years following the shooting of two men allegedly by police in 2014.

National Capital District Metropolitan Superintendent, Silva Sika was present on Saturday 4th October at Elevala village, Hanuabada to hear the concerns of the villagers and how they can work together to restore policing services.

Once known as a no-gone zone will now see the heavy presence of police starting Monday 6th October 2023.

Office furniture for police

The donation reflects Theodist’s efforts in supporting law enforcement agencies.

Furniture worth K10,000 was donated based on the need of the police stations.

Theodist CEO Kumar Baliah said the company prides itself in extending support to the police agencies to help them perform their duties effectively.

“We acknowledge the pivotal role that law enforcement officers play in our community and we resolute in supporting them with the necessary resources to perform their duties effectively,” Baliah said.

RPNGC supports breast cancer awareness

The RPNGC Pinktober awareness was hosted through a sausage sizzle and the selling of customized T-shirts at the Boroko police station car park.

All proceeds will go towards the work of Breast Cancer Awareness in the country.

Pinktober is an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure.

FSVU receives 50 desktops

The donation from Niunet Computers comes timely as the FSVU will need these computers among other office facilities to:

  • Lodge complaints of family & sexual violence
  • Ensure all cases of FSV are reported on a timely basis
  • To serve domestic incident notice on the alleged offender

The computers are donated for free and intended for FSVU officers to use technology as a platform to mitigate the merging challenges of crime through the internet.

Barracks named after Bougainville Police Chief

Tokura’s commitment, determination, and longest service to the RPNGC for more than 40 years, has been honoured with a police barracks named after him. 

The renaming ceremony was small yet significant. It was witnessed by Minister for Internal Security Peter Tsiamalili Jnr, Member for South Bougainville Timothy Masiu, Commissioner of Police David Manning and members of the police force.

COP Manning said a discussion was had and the department decided on renaming the barracks after one of its loyal servants.
