New Facilities For Boisen Secondary

National Planning Secretary, Kone Samuel presented an additional cheque of K200, 000 to build other school facilities.
Present for the occasion was ENB Administrator Wilson Matava, Rabaul district administrator Peter Lapim, sitting Rabaul MP Dr Allan Marat, principal West Kankan and education officials.
Mr Samuel was a former student of the high School before its destruction caused by the twin volcanic eruptions and was impressed with the rapid developments when revived and elevated to secondary status three years ago.

Ambulance For Raunsepna Health Centre

The absence of an ambulance has always been one of the major challenges at Raunsepna Health Centre.

The health facility acknowledged the first of its kind donation saying it was timely, especially when the remote facility was producing effective immunisation statistics compared to Health facilities in town areas.

Emma, the Sister-In-Charge, said communication and transport are major problems they face.

ENB Candidates Participate In Forum

It was also an opportunity to educate the people about the limited preferential voting system. The forums were organised by the ENB election steering committee, which is driving voter education in the province.
It is assisting the provincial electoral office under the leadership of provincial administrator, Wilson Matava.

Mobile Squad In NIP

New Ireland Provincial Police Commander, Felix Nebanat, said offenders are capitalising on the constraints faced by local police, hence the escalation in crime.

The mobile squad unit was called in by PPC Nebanat after his officers were attacked when responding to a wilful damage report involving over K20,000 worth of goods.

Furthermore, following the rise in lawlessness on the Tigak islands, Chief inspector Nebanat urged all New Irelanders to cooperate with police to restore normalcy on the islands.

Takis Aid Post Opened

The level-two Takis Aid post was built at a cost of K70,000 funded by the Gazelle Development Authority and was opened yesterday. The health centre will serve communities in Panarapka, KKCL employees and plantation workers with their families.

The facility was constructed by a local company, Atlu Civil Construction and designed and supervised by technical officers of the Gazelle district administration.

Six Women To Contest ENB Seats

Six of the total nominees are women.

Lanieth Aua and Dulcie Kins, both independent candidates, are contesting the regional seat.

Three women are contesting the Gazelle Open seat. They are Theonila Watt running under Advance PNG Party, Kathleen Midal Kunai (Independent) and Magreth Sowa (Independent).

Cathleen Baragu is contesting the Kokopo Open seat under PNG One Nation Party
 

ENB Nomination Update

Gazelle leads with 28 nominations, Kokopo 21, Regional 17, Rabaul 9 and Pomio 5. Opening this morning’s nomination is Ekonia Tokau for Rabaul Open and Samson Kaelam –Gazelle Open and at midday was Kokopo Open candidate, Melkie Anton.
The four female candidates have all nominated successfully. Lannet Aua, a retired teacher an independent candidate is vying for the Regional seat. Theonilla Watt, a retired health worker is running under Advance PNG Party vying for the Gazelle seat.

Gazelle Projects Launched

Minister for Health and Member for Gazelle Jelta Wong was present in the district to officiate at the launching of vital infrastructures for the electorate.

The classroom will be built at King of Kings Primary School at Wairiki ward in Toma Vunadidir LLG and Rural Electrification project for Tinganagalip ward in Central Gazelle LLG. The 4 in 1 classroom is part of Gazelle District administration’s effort to improve education standards in the electorate.

Gazelle People Urged To Work The Land

He made the call at Kerevat this week when launching the Gazelle Agro Industrial Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
It is a project of the Gazelle District Development Authority (DDA) of MP and Health Minister, Jelta Wong, which will focus on its rich agriculture and tuna potential.

PM Marape said he had repeated that same message throughout the country that people must turn to agriculture, with the Government financially supporting that, through price support.

Marape Launches Gazelle SEZ project

Prime Minister James Marape said this at Kerevat in East New Britain Province when launching the Gazelle Agro Industrial Special Economic Zone (SEZ) on Monday.

The Gazelle Agro Industrial Special Economic Zone is a project of the Gazelle District Development Authority (DDA) that will focus on its rich agriculture and tuna potential.

The launched Gazelle Agro Industrial Special Economic Zone (SEZ), include a chicken farm which produces fresh eggs, for the people of East New Britain.
