Mother and twin babies saved

The pregnant woman went into labour in the bushes of Bosavi in Southern Highlands Province. Little did she know, she was carrying twins and would face major complications.

A distress signal was sent to the Santos medical team who immediately dispatched a helicopter with support from the Santos aviation and operations teams.

Santos shares progressive updates

Speaking during the announcement of their support of the 17th Papua New Guinea Resources and Energy Investment Conference and Exhibition, Santos Country Chair (PNG), Leon Buskens, said: “With Santos’ commitment to PNG, we are evaluating the option to have a Floating Storage and Offtake (FSO) solution to replace the aging Kumul Marine terminal, which has been there since the late 90’s to export the highlands liquids.

“This would be the first FSO in the country.”

KPHL Strengthens Ownership in PNG LNG Project

This strategic investment further strengthens Kumul Petroleum's position in the energy sector and sets the stage for continued growth. Kumul Petroleum's Managing Director, Wapu Sonk, expressed his enthusiasm for the deal, stating that after months of meticulous negotiations with both national and international financiers, they are pleased to announce the successful acquisition of additional equity in the PNG LNG Project. This venture has been in motion since the National Executive Council's initial approval in September 2022.

Santos remains committed to PNG

This was highlighted during the 2023 Business Advantage PNG investment conference held in Brisbane, Australia from August 11 and 12.

Executive Vice President Eastern Australia and PNG at Santos, Brett Darley had acknowledged the PNG landowners and the First Nations people who support their operations across Australia, Timor Leste, Alaska and, of course, PNG. 

Santos joins PNGDF in campaign against violence

The campaign for ‘Happy Homes, Healthy Mindsets and Mission Focused’, was rolled out to Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF) personnel at Igam Barracks in Lae by Santos Foundation in close partnership with the PNGDF Gender Committee, the Morobe Family and Sexual Violence Action Committee, Lae Femili PNG and Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited.

Santos backs Defence Force rugby tournament

A total of 11 teams comprising soldiers, sailors, airmen, and women throughout the country are expected to participate in the competition to build morale and to commemorate Remembrance Day which has significant historical connection to the Papua New Guinea Defence Force (PNGDF).  
 
In thanking sponsors, Chief of Defence Force Major General, Mark Goina acknowledged the continuous support of its partners including Santos. The Tournament will also be used as a platform to promote gender equality and peace.   
 

Santos staff recognise World Environment Day

At Santos, waste reduction initiatives included a clean-a-thon in Kutubu, Southern Highlands on Sunday, 4th of June.

Staff also honed in on their creativity using recycled material to create work of art such as an Instaframe decorated with flowers made from plastic containers.

In step with its purpose to create a better world for everyone, Santos pursues its environment objective with reference to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, Goal 14: Life Below Water and Goal 15: Life on Land.

Santos presents Kupiano rural hospital

The Kupiano District Hospital is Santos’ largest investment in the health sector under the Tax Credit Scheme arrangement, which saw a total investment of K20.224 million towards the development of the project from feasibility, design & engineering in 2010 to final completion. 

Built in the 1960s, the Kupiano Hospital was formerly known as Kupiano Rural Health Centre. The hospital redevelopment comes under the government’s TCS project managed by Santos.  
Construction work on the hospital commenced in 2017. 

Kumul Petroleum Finance Extension

This was in response to Santos's advice to the ASX that it agreed to continue to deal exclusively with KPHL during the requested extension.

KPHL Managing Director, Wapu Sonk, expressed gratitude to Santos for the extension and for allowing them the opportunity to secure the additional project equity.

He stated that Kumul Petroleum is confident that they will be successful in financing the transaction with support from financiers and by working closely with Santos Limited.

Santos shared agenda in addressing GBV

The continued support received from Santos will be the Highlands Regional sponsor of the MOH Awards. 

Through Digicel PNG Foundation, this peace building initiative of the Men of Honour Campaign focuses on positive behavior with the aim to break the cycle of violence in PNG.

Santos PNG Stakeholder Management Senior Vice President, Wayne Kasou, stated that the continued support from Santos is a shared agenda in addressing gender-based violence.
