U.S. Gov’t, Santos power up community

In partnership with the Southern Highlands Provincial Health Authority, Santos through the Santos funded Oil Search Foundation (OSF) and USAID launched the Pimaga Rural Hospital Solar Electrification Project on March 28 at Pimaga, in Nipa Kutubu District, SHP. 

The mini grid installed through the project will now serve not only hundreds of patients seen at the clinic but will also provide power to the dozen or more clinic staff and their families who live on the health clinic compound.

Santos transfers facility to Gulf gov’t

This follows the handover of another CDI facility in Moro, Southern Highlands by the company to the Mineral Resources Development Company.  
 
Santos signed a Memorandum Of Agreement (MOA) with the Gulf Provincial Government, and CDI Foundation Trustee Company Ltd to enable the transfer of the facility which will continue to implement health and education programs in the province. 
 

Santos wins industry award

“We are very proud to accept this Award and appreciate the industry recognition of our efforts in making a significant contribution to the Environment and Climate Change,” said Tau Homoka, Santos Vice President for Special Projects when accepting the Award in Sydney at the 16th PNG Mining and Petroleum Investment Conference & Exhibition Dinner on Monday, 5 December.  
 

Santos Backs Daffodil Corporate Golf Challenge

The golf challenge will be held on Friday, 2nd of September 2022 at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club.  

The Santos-funded golf event has been an annual activity on the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club’s charity event calendar since 2003, receiving great support from Port Moresby’s private and business community every year. 

Santos Announce Half-year Results

The results reflect significantly higher oil and LNG prices due to stronger global energy demand combined with a higher interest in PNG LNG following the Oil Search merger.

The 2022 results show the record free cash flow of US$1.7 billion and underlying profit of US$1.3 billion.

Little Jonah Receives Medical Assistance

Self-employed couple Hibi and Cathy Hawa have four children including Jonah. Just like other kids his age, Jonah is fun and energetic and enjoys nothing more than playing with his friends and swimming in the river.  
 
Jonah was enrolled in the local elementary school and was always early for classes until one morning everything changed.    
 
“We heard him crying to us for help as he could not move his legs. I thought he was joking when he told us that he couldn’t stand up,” said dad Hibi as he recalls that morning in March. 
 

Santos Supports Teacher Training

These teachers are from rural communities in Hela and Gulf provinces and travelled to attend the annual Buk bilong Pikinini teacher refresher training in Port Moresby this week.

This initiative is a part of the Foundation’s commitment towards investing in early childhood education in PNG.

The group comprises of seven women and three men from Fugwa and Habare in Hela and Kikori in Gulf Province. They join 40 other early childhood educators from around the country committed to help the next generation of Papua New Guineans.

OSF, Cricket PNG To Deliver Program

An agreement between OSF and Cricket PNG was signed on Monday, June 27 paving way for the program to be implemented in selected schools in NCD, Central and Gulf provinces.

This new agreement further supports Cricket PNG to use a previous investment by OSF in purchasing the equipment in 2020.

The pandemic prevented the implementation of the program in 2021 and both partners are very pleased to see this initiative come to fruition.

Santos Partners To Deliver Health Plan

The agreement was signed at a recent meeting by Santos funded OSF Executive Director, Stephanie Copus-Campbell, Southern Highlands Provincial Health Authority (PHA) Board Chair and Health Department Secretary, Dr Osbourne.   

The theme of the NHP is ‘Leaving no-one behind. Together we can do it.’ Building effective multi-sectoral partnerships, including with the private sector, is also a key cross cutting theme in the NHP to improve health indicators across the country. 

Santos Delivers Record Production, Sales

Santos Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Gallagher said the strong production combined with higher commodity prices delivered record quarterly free cash flow of US$865 million, an increase of 186 per cent from the corresponding period last year.

“By designing our portfolio to provide strong cash flows throughout the commodity price cycle, our disciplined, low-cost operating model has positioned us to take full advantage of the increase in commodity prices,” Mr Gallagher said.
