Group sets sights on Mt Everest

They plan to travel to Nepal, to trek to the Base Camp of Mt Everest; an estimated 5,364 metres in height.

The organisation was established after members experienced personal loss. Friends of the Madang Provincial Hospital was created to proactively support the hospital.

The run for charity

The event has been running for over 20 years and its main goal is to raise over K100,000 for local charities.

The five-kilometre fun run (or walk) is one of Port Moresby’s major charity events, and funds raised from the event go towards supporting our communities in the areas of health, education, women and children.

The event invites the business community to put in as many teams as they like, consisting of five people per team at a cost of K1000, all of which goes to charity.

This year, the race will start and end at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium.

Golf tourney raises K65,000 for Modilon

President of Madang Golf and Madang Country Club, George Ireng said that they would like to use golf to support charity or for a worthy cause.

In its search for a sponsor to aid its fundraising efforts, Kumul Mineral Holdings Limited (KMHL) stepped up to sponsor prizes for participants in the Ambrose Championship. The golfing fundraiser attracted support from local businesses also.

School initiates infrastructure expansion

Executive members were recently appointed by the school administration and representatives from surrounding communities. 

Their main aim is to raise funds for the school, which will go towards building infrastructures like classrooms, teachers’ houses, libraries, toilets, laboratories, water supply and internet systems. 

The school, situated a kilometre away from the Nadzab Tomodachi International Airport, experienced an influx in student intake as people started migrating to settle at the Nadzab and Erap areas, in anticipation of the proposed township.

The adrenaline-packed 400-meter pram race was expertly organized by dynamic duo, Will and Woody, in collaboration with KIIS 101.1.

The exhilarating race featured a heart-pounding competition among the participants, with Steve exhibiting extraordinary determination and skill, ultimately claiming the coveted title. The nail-biting event saw all the baby dolls making it through the challenging course unscathed, adding a touch of humor and delight to the charitable occasion.

Murukanam rally for spiritual transformation

Cohesively, the rally is to seek divine intervention for youth in an area who are involved in violent crimes including killings, cult and other anti-social behavior.

Chairperson of the St. Peter’s Fundraising Committee, Thaddeus Suam, stated that upon consultation with professional builders, the community will need K150, 000 for maintenance work. If they opted to renovate, the amount is bound to increase.

Aus singer features at OOH Fundraiser

Braithwaite will be in the country to support Operation Open Heart to raise as much money to save more Papua New Guinean children with their cardiac issues.

The patron of OOH, Justin Tkatchenko acknowledged Braithwaite’s appearance on the fundraiser night.

“Daryl Braithwaite is coming back again to raise much needed funds for Operation Open Heart, he’ll be singing all of his famous songs across the world and in Australia and that will be live right here at APEC Haus,” he stated.

Swimmer raises funds for Cheshire Disability Services

The Steamships Group is supporting the swim, and 100% of all sponsorship money will go towards initiatives that will directly benefit people with disabilities and their families.

Swimmer Neil Papenfus, a General Manager in Steamships' Logistics Division, is registered to swim the English Channel in October. “I love swimming, I love challenging myself physically, and I love the work that the team at Cheshire Disability Services do for people in our community who are living with disabilities,” says Papenfus.

Miner wants kids to be tough in pursuing goals

Lihir Gold Limited Superintendent-Mine Safety, Leo Kola, stated this when the company recently supported the schools car wash fundraising activity to support their biannual trip to Brisbane this year.

Kola and a team from the company brought in a Light Mine Vehicle from the mine pit to the school during the fundraiser.

“The kids had to wash the mud down and in the process realise that mining is a tough and dirty job.

“Hopefully this experience will empower them to be tough in pursuing their goals as students,” said Kola.
