​Pruaitch on PANGU members’ alleged move

He stated there are no lines drawn against politicians moving sides in the parliament. However, if and when this move is confirmed, there is nothing the Opposition can do and their decision will be taken with grace.

The Opposition leader was also queried on how the move will affect the opposition if and when it actually occurs. He stated that they will operate as the Opposition and this move, if it happens, will not deter them from their goals.

“We are fighting to remove poor leadership”

This was reiterated in press conference today by Pangu Party leader and member elect for Bulolo, Sam Basil upon welcoming also the new Governor of Morobe Province, Ginson Goheyu Saonu.

Basil made this calling to the member elect for Kabwum, Patrick Basa stating that PNC has created a leadership vacuum in the Morobe Province and elsewhere too.

Juffa backs Goroka camp

Sam Basil’s PANGU Party are camped in the heart of mainland Papua New Guinea to lure numbers to form the country’s next government.

Juffa, who spent his first 5 years in the National Parliament as a middle and opposition bench MP, vowed to be vocal on national issues.           

“I have no problem in staying in the Opposition, so I can speak my mind to represent the interest of my people,” Juffa said in a media conference in Port Moresby today.

“But I am very interested in forming the next government.

10 Members of Parliament declared so far

So far, Pangu Party has two declared, one declared for National Alliance Party, the Melanesian Liberal Party (MLP) has one MP declared whist the People’s National Congress (PNC) Party has the highest with six declared members. 

Among the 10 declared were Prime Minister and Member for Ialubu Pangia Peter O’Neill and Tari Pori MP James Marape who was the first member to be declared on July 9.

Pangu Party to promote policy at forum

NRI director Dr Charles Yala said the forum is organised to encourage political parties to develop constructive policies and give awareness to the voting population.    

“Our interest is to make an input into the policy debate during the national elections.

“PNG NRI’s contribution to election 2017 is to provide a forum for political parties to market their policies in a non-threatening and friendly environment,” Dr Yala said. 

The political parties forum will be run twice a week throughout the month of March.

NRI director Dr Charles Yala made the confirmation in a media conference today.

The public forum will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting next week, and the eight sessions will be held this month at NRI conference room in Port Moresby.

Dr Yala said the aim of the forum is to encourage political parties to develop constructive policies and give awareness to the voting population.
