New jerseys for Lae FC

When presenting their new jerseys on Saturday at the Lae Yacht Club, Lae MP and Deputy Prime Minister, John Rosso, commended them for their perseverance and said after much persuasion, he agreed to the Lae City Authority sponsoring the city’s “pride and joy”. 

Lae FC confident to defend title

He said the potential is there, but it is the players that will have to establish combination amongst themselves to discover themselves and run to reclaim the National Premier League title. 

Lae City FC started their 2023 NPL campaign slow with a handful of new young players joining the team. The new recruits are still finding their foot in the team working on building their combination, which obviously impacted the result of their game.

The eight times and current NSL champion carry on a legacy raised over a period of 10 years is now back under the control of inaugural franchise owner, the Lae City Authority (LCA).

Lae City FC Season 2023 is significant under the inaugural franchise ownership of the municipal authority of the second city of PNG, the Lae City Authority (LCA).

The LCA through chairman and Member for Lae, John Rosso, takes over the rein from the Lae Biscuit Company.

Komolong returns home after surgery

The champion defender went under the blade in the hands of doctor Papakostas from Greece who did a good job.

After the surgery, Alwin spent a night in the hospital. Upon a further check-up with the Physio and Doctors, he was given the rehabilitation plans and was discharged from hospital.

Alwin’s visit to Aspetar in Qatar, the well renowned Sport Medicine and Rehabilitation Center in the world, has been a success, as he has been doing well. Alwin is still in the rehab and is anticipating quick recovery.

Hekari advance to OFC play-off

A masterclass performance by the resurgent young Hekari United FC delivered two unanswered goals in the last quarter of yesterday’s final leg of the OFC National League Play-off against an equally strong, Lae City FC beating them 2-0 to qualify for the 8-nation OFC Champions League in in May.

Hekari's midfielder Yagi Yagasa was like man possed staring in both home and away play offs in Lae and Port Moresby.

Yesterday’s big decider was a thriller that kept the fans guessing when the both teams were left scoreless at halftime.

O League decider

Hekari with a win under their belt, after taking out the first play off 2-1 in Lae last week will have their work cut out for them, knowing the Lae city boys are on a mission to stop them from advancing.

The match is set to kick off at 3pm today with a bumper crowd expected with tight security provided.

PNGFA National Competition Manager, Ahmjad Tekwie said the game will again go down to the wire wish both teams all the best.

Lae City FC confident for finals meet

At the end of a 10-round normal season ending last year, Lae City FC came out on top claiming the minor premiership with nine wins, one draw and no loss.

Captain Emmanuel Simon is adamant Lae City FC will maintain the momentum to stay on top of their game.

Simon said backed by progressive results of this season, the team heads into the finals race tomorrow with the same attitude and a positive mindset.

He added though the team will be without the services of the Komolong brothers, the spirit in the camp is high and the boys can’t wait for game day.

Lae City FC Set For Today’s Clash

Lae City FC plays its second match against AS Venus of Tahiti today (Sunday 07th August 2022) at 1pm.

AS Venus currently leads the Group A pool with 1 win so far.

Lae City FC has 1 draw from their first match and has to win this second match in order to stay in the competition.

Head Coach Bob Morris is happy with his pack so far, and has realigned them from Game 1.

So far, lead up training in Auckland has been favourable with the team having enough time to acclimatise and have a good feel of the international standard synthetic soccer pitches.

Lae FC Settles For Draw

The match hosted at the Ngahue reserve, home of the OFC kicking off at 12pm midday (NZ time) yesterday swayed to the Lae City FC dominance and ball possession but unable to finish off up front where it mattered.

Galaxy FC were first on the board from a deflected ball spinning into the uprights but then Lae City FC captain Emmanuel Simon retaliated with a curve ball from a corner kick to equalize in the first half.
