This assistance will increase optimal healthcare and ambulance services in the country.

The donation is in line with NGCB’s Agreement to purchase three ambulance vehicles per year starting this year to 2024 in the effort to maximize essential medical and ambulance services to the people of PNG through NGCB’s ‘Give Back Program’.

CEO Imelda Agon in a statement says all Pacific Racing Betting Shop licenses are current and are in operation.

“Spreading rumors and fake news on social media with the intent to incite anger, frustration and tarnish the good name of a state-owned organization is ridiculous and unreasonable,” Ms Agon said.

“NGCB is committed in ensuring the operation of the gaming industry remains uninterrupted especially during this time when the industry is recovering from the closure of gaming operation due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” she added.

The Goroka Show will be held from 17^th-19^th of September at the National Sports Institute.

NGCB Acting Chief Executive Officer Imelda Agon, said the funding assistance is to meet additional costs of quarantine, COVID 19 precautions and the increased costs of travel due to the Pandemic for Team PNG.

Rellie Kaputin who competed over the weekend is the last athlete from team PNG to represent the country at the Olympic Games. 

Agon said NGCB is a keen supporter of the PNG Olympic Committee and will continue to maintain this partnership. 

In receiving the cheque on behalf of the Kavieng Golf Club (KGC), President Shaun Keane said the donation will make an important contribution to bringing back proper maintenance for the club.

“The Kavieng Golf Club is a community hub for people in New Ireland Province, and an important part of our National tourism infrastructure.

“We will use this donation to purchase a tractor exclusively to maintain the golf course.

“Golf is a sport that attracts a lot of Papua New Guinean players and our club has produced some good golfers through the years.

NGCB Chairman, Clemence Kanau said this following its recent announcement to partner with the Paga Hill development to build a multi-million kina Casino project.

While research have shown that some families in the country are being torn apart due to gambling addictions by their parents, the Government has given the all clear to a company to begin development on a Casino project.

The Casino project is being realized as an avenue to attract greater tourism and economic development.

He was speaking during the signing between NGCB and casino developer, Paga Hill Development to build a casino in Port Moresby.    

“Local and international tourists will be here to play casino and of course create direct and indirect employment. Between one and two thousand would be employed including taxi drivers will drive people up to the casino and those in the SME sector will also participate,” said Mr Kanau.

The casino named the ‘Pacific Pearl’, is plan to start operation in 2023 and Port Moresby is expected to see an influx of tourists.

The Gaming industry in Papua New Guinea has returned to its normal operation, under strict COVID-19 compliance.

The decision was reached following dialogue between the National Gaming Control Board and the National Control Centre.

All Gaming Machine sites reopened today, while bookmaker sites will reopen the following week.

“We are grateful to the NCC for relaxing the restrictions on the gaming industry.

The policy designed to address, control and prevent the spread of infectious diseases specially COVID-19 pandemic in gaming sites throughout Papua New Guinea.  

The Gaming Industry in the country has been hit hard by the novel coronavirus.

The Industry has been shut down in compliance with the National Government’s declaration for the State of Emergency.

The Gaming Industry is a Government sanctioned entertainment industry regulated by the National Gaming Control Board under the Gaming Control Act 2007.

The training will be led by LinkPad Technologies and Publishing (LinkPad) with support from experts co-opted from University of Papua New Guinea.

The CEO of NGCB, Imelda Agon while presenting the cheque said she believes in the initiative of upskilling the neglected rural population in the remote parts of PNG to open door of opportunities to the people.

“Through our continuous effort in building the communities around PNG, we are glad to assist LinkPad and UPNG with a funding of K50, 000 to conduct the integrated rural financial literacy training,” Agon said.
