Chopper service to offer tourists flight tours in Milne Bay

The chopper service is operated by HeliScope PNG and will offer three different tours for tourists.

This service provides a 12-minute tour, 25-minute tour and a 40-minute tour towards East Cape, showing cruise line guests the beautiful scenery of the province.

HeliScope PNG chief executive officer Giles Rooney told Loop PNG that Milne Bay is one of the areas that they feel is really untapped as far as tourism goes, therefore they want to look at how they can boost income for the local area.

Game of Thrones used in attempt to lure tourists to Aleppo

Bashar al-Assad's regime released a promotional video Friday with panoramic views of government-held parts of Aleppo, accompanied by an acoustic version of the theme music to the popular HBO television series.

Showcased in the video are aerial shots of wide green boulevards and swimming pools. It's a far cry from the rebel-held eastern part of the city, where 250,000 people live with daily airstrikes, according to the UN, and where whole blocks of neighborhoods have been destroyed.

Cost of doing business high in Manus, says Minister

This includes the high cost of air fares and the lack of tourism infrastructure in the province.

Minister for Trade Commerce and Industry, Richard Maru revealed this when officially opening a 3 days Seminar on Tourism in Manus Province recently.

Maru was invited by the Manus Provincial Government to officiate at this Tourism seminar for him to specifically speak on the impact of the closure of the Asylum Seekers Processing Centre on local SME’s and the unemployment rate that will be caused as a result of the closure of the center.

Hey…hey… hey … Manus has a tourism association

While those on the main land will be affected in terms of their employment at the processing center, those on the outer islands are now looking at tourism as a way forward.

A tourism seminar was held for the first time this week in Lorengau town that ended with the election of the First Manus Interim Manus Provincial Tourism Association Executives.

Tourism Development Initiatives Proposed Plans were brought up by those in attendance, amongst these was a proposal for the M’buke Islands-Ecotourism and Research & Conservation Plan.

Kokoda Track is a single-file foot thoroughfare that runs 96 kilometres overland through the Owen Stanley Range in Papua New Guinea.

It runs from Owers Corner in Central Province, 50 kilometres east of Port Moresby, across rugged and isolated terrain which is only passable on foot, to the village of Kokoda in Northern Province.
