Digicel gives special rate for Madang-Lae highway

The rate will apply to all calls made only on Friday from Madang Province between Digicel account holders.

Digicel PNG CEO, Maurice McCarthy, said it was incredibly important for Madang locals traveling along the affected area to be able to keep communication with local authorities and with family and friends.

“We hope that by reducing the cost of calls in the area we can provide some relief to the region affected,” he said.

Duban keeps education as top priority

During his electoral visit recently, Duban visited several schools in South Ambenob to honour his commitments in ensuring these schools receive funding  to improve their learning facilities.

Schools he visited includes: Transgogol High School, Bahor in Bilbil and Kil Primary in Fulumu and presented their school funding.

At Transgogol High School, the Member spent some time talking to the students on the importance of education as the resource to move the country forward and is the reason Government has been investing millions in.

Buka, Kokopo to revel with NRL in the Park

Last Saturday, 20 February, Madang residents celebrated the upcoming NRL season with a successful community fun day at Laiwaden Oval, whilst Buka and Kokopo residents have their turn this Saturday, 27 February.

Hundreds of Madang residents enjoyed a special guest performance by music sensation Nathan Nakikus and participated in fun footy games, where some participants received great prizes.

Tourists receive spectacular welcome in Madang

Makeshift handcraft markets were set up as early as 6am at the wharf entrance with beautiful displays of carvings, bilum, canvas paintings and hand-craft for sale。

Other craft markets were set up at the Christian Women’s Association and the Madang Resort Hotel Jetty area and the Kaving Haus。

Melanesian Tourist Services (MTS) was  the excursion agent for the port of call for the cruise ship。

The tour was organized by Swire Group, which saw the tourist kick-start their tour in Alotau.

The next ports will be Wewak and Rabaul.

Madang cleans up its act

This follows a circular from the town's care taker manager, Peter ToRot.

The response was overwhelming clean all easements of land adjoining the urban road in town。

And this is in preparation for a visit tomorrow (Sunday,21st February) of tourist cruise ship Pacific Aria

A youth group from DCA settlement walked around the town area collecting rubbish, while groups of inmates from the Beon Correctional Jail did cleaned up along the beach front from Tusbab Beach to Kalibobo and Madang Resort。

Rural people in Madang encouraged to save money

Vero Kolongo, a bank officer with MiBank based in Madang, (formerly Wau Micro Bank) challenged the people of Uria village in Ward 19 area of Usino Local Level Government during an awareness work partnership with Ramu NiCo Project on February 6.

Kolongo said many people today have the attitude of spending more and saving less but this must change and encourage more people have access to banking products and facilities to encourage saving culture.

Madang Town care-taker manager Peter ToRot in a circular yesterday advised all town residents,  business houses and institutions to maintain clean all the easements of land adjoining the urban road。

“Ensure the easements or land urban road in the frontage and surrounding of your premises are kept clean and free from general refuse and discarded materials, plastic bags, tall vegetation, betelnut spittle and skin and so on,”

“We seek your cooperation for a cleaner and beautiful Madang town,”  ToRot stated.
