Uguro laid to rest

There was not a dry eye from Walium to Bil village as men, women and children mourned the loss of their leader.

Madang Governor Ramsey Pariwa acknowledged the achievements and efforts made by Uguro whilst being the member for Usino Bundi and the Minister for Education in transforming his district and the education sector.

Governor Pariwa stated that no other member or minister of Parliament has ever done up a 50-year plan, apart from the late Grand Chief’s Vision 2050.

Late Uguro commemorated

The late MP was described as a servant leader by District Administrator Joachim Lumi. He said the late leader was a servant leader who strived to bring vital services to the district. In terms of Education, he was a proactive Minister in transforming the Education Ministry.
 
Prime Minister James Marape sympathized with the people of Usino Bundi on the loss of a great leader. He spoke highly of the late minister, stating that he was a loyal PANGU Party member and government minister.

“The news of the sudden death is a sad tragedy,” said Ramu Nico Chairman, Wang Zhou.

The Chairman said it shocked, like it did people around the country, the company’s employees at Kurumbukari mine in the Usino Bundi District and the refinery at Basamuk.

Mr. Zhou stated that the late Jimmy Uguro committed to his district, the ministry and was always vocal about Kurumbukari landowners putting their mining royalty to good use.

Pomalmal High School Receives New Classrooms

The classrooms and an office which cost the Yangoru-Saussia District Development Authority (DDA) over K400,000 to complete was officially opened by the late Minister for Education, Jimmy Uguro.

Late Minister Uguro committed K1 million to support the school in building a fully kitted science lab at Pomalmal High School as the Government’s contribution to support the efforts of the Yangoru-Saussia DDA.

Minister for International Trade and Investment & Yangoru-Saussia MP, Richard Maru thanked the late Minister Uguro for his commitment to support Pomalmal High School.

Wingei High School set for secondary status in 2025

The groundbreaking ceremony was officiated by the late Minister for Education, Jimmy Uguro, local MP and Minister for International Trade and Investment, Richard Maru, and the Secretary for Department of Education, Dr. Uke Kombra.

This marked the elevation of the school from a junior high school to a secondary school and also commenced the construction of the secondary school.

Wingei High School is one of the newly established high schools in Yangoru-Saussia District. It was established in 2020 under the leadership of Minister Maru.

Marape gives Condolence Message for Late Minister

In a media release this afternoon, the Prime Minister stated;

"My dear People of Papua New Guinea,

"It is with the greatest sorrow that I inform you of the untimely death of one of our sons and my Minister for Education, Honorable Jimmy Uguro.

"The late Minister Uguro was Member for Usino-Bundi and also a loyal member of my party, Pangu. He was on duty travel to East Sepik Province when he passed.
