Continuous flooding frustrates resident

A senior public servant, who did not want to be named, expressed his dissatisfaction and frustration over the lack of proper drainage for the sub district of Kerema. He believes this is the main reason why Malalaua is always flooded during wet season.

“Most of the houses were built during the colonial era and have low posts so flood water usually enters when it’s a very heavy rain,” he stated.

“Malalaua is the gateway to the Gulf Province and just by first impression, it looks like a typical village.”

“While we still have a lot of work to do, universal healthcare is becoming a reality around Papua New Guinea,” stated the PM.

“The amount of money a person has in their pocket should not determine if they can see a doctor or receive healthcare.

“Over the past five years, working with our partners, including churches, we have expanded medical services to remote areas and rebuilt hospitals.

Program graduates 37 elementary teachers

“We are so grateful to our major donor, the Prime Minister’s Office and in particular, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill.

New office to help sufferers of family and sexual violence

As a mom of two, she was once a victim but seeing the implementation of this project was a day she could never stop her heart from crying out in joy.

"I was a victim where my ex-husband would hit me or throw me out of the house just to go out with other women," Maria tearfully said.

"I also have been badly beaten with fractured bones and swollen eyes and sometimes, I get chucked out of the house for no good reason," she said.

"And with this unit now here, I would like to thank the people who initiated this project to set up in Kerema.”
