BSP Continues Support for Men of Honour

This year, three ambassadors will be selected from each of the four regions, with one ‘Unsung Hero’ award going to an ambassador from each region.

BSP Head of Marketing and Public Relations, Gorethy Semi, stated that BSP is pleased to continue its support for the third year now. 

Foundation hosts Lae MoH roadshow

This follows the recent launch at Waigani Central in Port Moresby.

The Digicel Foundation team set up an information booth along with their partners, where residents gathered to find out more about the Men of Honour campaign as well as the role of their partner organisations.

Head of programs for Digicel Foundation, Valda Kereu, outlined that nominations for outstanding men who do extraordinary work in the communities opened in November and will close on February 3rd, 2023.

K1.6m classroom for Busu

Students and staff warmly welcomed the Digicel Foundation team on the 1st of June to the groundbreaking of the new 4-in-1 double-storey classroom.

The infrastructure is valued at K1.6 million, which is, by far, the highest amount the Foundation has ever spent on a single classroom.

Busu principal, George Noble, acknowledged Digicel PNG’s head of regions and general managers, consumer sales, Brian Malone, for putting him in touch with the Foundation’s CEO, Serena Sasingian.

Agevairu Health Centre Benefits From Staff Grant Program

The grants program is a great way for Digicel staff to give back to their communities or villages. Patricia Kassman from Agevairu in Kairuku District, Central Province was one of 10 staff who were awarded a K5000 grant.

Agevairu Health Centre located at Kairuku District helps out surrounding villages, and has 10 operational rooms and five staff members of the Health Centre.

Kassman acknowledged Digicel Foundation for the opportunity to give back to her community.

Hilton Backs Men of Honour

The awards night will be on 10th of December 2021. The agreement between Hilton Port Moresby and Digicel Foundation on 12th of October.

Hilton Port Moresby Commercial Director, Robbie Turner, said they are very happy and excited to support this worthwhile cause.

CEO of Digicel PNG Foundation, Serena Sasingian, said Hilton Hotel’s support is greatly appreciated.

“The Awards Night Dinner is a flagship event on our calendar and the support given by Hilton Hotel will allow us to make this a successful and meaningful night for the recipients of the Awards.”

Foundation Launches Educational Channel

This is according to Digicel Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Serena Sasingian yesterday at the launch of the Foundation’s Education TV channel.

The channel aims to increase literacy and economic opportunities for the youth of Papua New Guinea through creating and streaming learning content to schools and Community Learning Centers around the country.

PNG Air Supports Awards

The awards was launched on August 27, 2021 to allow members of the public to nominate ordinary men who are doing extra-ordinary things to build peace in their respective communities.

PNG Air Acting Chief Commercial Officer, Nancy Nakikus said PNG Air is pleased to support the Men of Honour Campaign by providing return flights to the ports the team requires to travel for interviews with nominees and quality checks.

Early Childhood Learning Partnership

This will be a significate step into the development of early childhood education around PNG. The program is worth over K200, 000 and be rolled out in the Central Province and the Autonomous Region of Bougainville as part of the Foundation’s Education Program.

Twenty childhood teachers will receive training in their home province through residential blocks and online training. At the end of the six-month program, the participants will receive a certificate II from TAFE.

Digicel recognised for contribution to education

Today the Digicel PNG Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Education, to increase quality educational outcome for students, through a free-to-air Digicel PNG Foundation, Education television channel.

The Foundation’s education program has had significant impact in provinces and districts across the country, for over 13 years.
