MP Disperses Funds

The monies was dispersed to various organizations that will assist in the delivery of vital services in the maritime district.

The organizations and funding amounts are as follows:

PNG Air resumes Misima service

Prior to the opening of the airport, locals had to travel by sea to the mainland, which takes almost two days at a cost of K150 per person.

PNG Air chief pilot, engineers and officers from the Milne Bay Provincial Works Department inspected the airport last week and gave the go-ahead for flights to resume after maintenance work was completed.

Misima water system upgrade

Minister for Tourism, Arts & Culture and Samarai-Murua MP, Isi Henry Leonard, says funding was secured in December 2020 to purchase the pipes, which will supply water to the township.

“Last year December I managed to provide funding and send some of our officers to Alotau to purchase all the water piping system for the upgrading of our two dams that provide fresh water to the township of Bwagoia and surrounding villages,” stated the Minister.
