Central police tighten liquor restrictions

They highlighted this during launching the Central Province festive season police operation at Kwikila station in Central Province.

He said that locals will not be allowed to drink alcohol while driving in their private vehicles or when in public transport.

“Because drinking and driving in neither the private or public vehicle is an offense,” he said.

Asi said the restrictions also apply to the locals selling beer with liquor licenses.

Peaceful Celebration in Madang

Provincial Police Commander, Superintendent David Seine Jnr stated that the only incident that was reported was at Wagol Settlement where drunkards fought among themselves with a few properties damaged. 

He said police responded to the incident on Sunday December 25 and calmed the group of people. They were told to report to the police station to solve the issue. 

PPC Seine Jnr said he is yet to receive reports from the districts on their Christmas celebrations. 
Madang town, Ramu and Karkar were reported to be quiet. 

Lae police maintain festive operations

The police Christmas operations is running alongside a combined Traffic Police and Morobe Land Transport Board operations.

"Overall I am quite satisfied with the way Police Operations was conducted over the weekend.

“I thank all my personnel for their commitment towards their duties over the weekend", says the Lae Metropolitan police commander, Anthony Wagambie junior.

Wagambie says that his personnel are now ready for the New Year celebrations, just a few days away.

Police: Festive operations a success

Provincial Police Commander Albert Beli says most celebrations by residents of Kundiawa were kept indoors with only a few minor incidents.

He says this was the same for people throughout the districts.

Beli says the Simbu stretch of the Highlands Highway was also peaceful with no arrests of drunk drivers or any accidents at all.
