DJAG commemorate national women’s day

With the theme: “Count her in: Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress, DJAG staff joined the rest of Papua New Guinea to commemorate the day, which is observed annually on March 24th.

Strong laws needed for female politicians

Gore said the biggest challenge that women in PNG face when contesting for election or as elected members of Parliament is having laws that do not fully support them.

She was speaking during the “Women in leadership retreat PNG” in Port Moresby today.

She said despite the equality bill passed in Parliament in 2011, women still faced equality challenges. 

IRC launches GESI strategy

From 2023 to 2027, this new strategy aims to replace the previous GESI strategy developed in 2016.

The IRC states that as an organization, diversity and inclusion are deeply ingrained in their values, culture, and processes, serving as vital components of our continuous growth and success.

IRC Commissioner Koim, in the strategy, stated that it demonstrates the IRC’s commitment to focusing on inclusion and creating a positive work environment where their diversity is celebrated.

Bishop welcomes support to end GBV, SARV

The workshop emphasized the centrality of human rights in addressing the ongoing impacts of election-related violence in the province, including sorcery accusation-related violence (SARV).

Human rights defenders, community leaders, and church leaders are attending this workshop.
