 He is adamant now about delivering services to his people with no more distractions from Court cases or Election Petitions.

The leave applications were to review an earlier national court decision that dismissed Pariwa’s application for objection of competency against petitioners Peter Yama and Jerry Singirok.

The outcome now stands that a full trial into the election petition case between Jerry Singirok and Ramsey Pariwa will commence on a date yet to be set by the court.

The governor made this when he invited the Minister for Livestock, Sekie Agisa to Madang to sign a memorandum of agreement (MOA)on Friday, May 19, to establish downstream processing facility in Madang.

The agreement signing was witnessed by the Managing Director of the Livestock Development Corporation, Terry Koim and Madang’s Deputy Provincial Administrator, Paul Adam Ito, on behalf of the Provincial Administrator, Frank Tonges Lau, who was out of the province.

Pariwa through his lawyer, Martin Kombri, wanted to dismiss the petition alleging grounds of abuse of process.

The application was filed arguing that the election petition Rules and the Organic Law were breached when the petition was prepared by the lawyers assisting the petitioner and not by the petitioner (Mr Yama) himself.

A similar application was earlier filed by Pariwa as well raising series of allegations against Yama’s lawyer Ben Lomai of Lomai Attorney but the application was dismissed.

Governor Ramsey Pariwa who was part of Minister Maru’s delegation to Thailand last week expressed concern at the lack of infrastructures such as road accessibility, electricity problem and lack of water supply in the country.

“Thai companies have expressed interest to invest in PNG, if we are able to provide land, electricity, bridges, roads wharfs and enabling infrastructures,” he said.  

The Governor expressed confidence at Thai Investors to help PNG in its endeavor to develop Special Economic Zones including the failed PMIZ project in Madang.

Governor Pariwa was guest of honour in the surrender program. He urged all the youth in the ward and district to refrain from producing, trading and consuming home brew. He stressed that home brew only creates more law and order problems in the community.

He encouraged more involvement in agriculture activities and SMEs. They must create and make an honest living.

The youth of Alemo voluntarily surrendered the home brewing apparatuses which were destroyed in front of community leaders and the governor.  Members of the Madang police thanked the youths for the bold move.

Peter Yama, the current Governor of Madang and the People`s Labor Party leader, is among 40 other candidates vying for the Madang regional seat, while Ismael endorsed under the same party will contest the Madang Open seat among 46 candidates.

As close of nomination yesterday, Madang had registered 317 candidates who will be contesting the seven seats- Madang provincial seat, Madang, Sumakr, Rai Coast, Middle Ramu, Bogia and Usino Bundi.

Madang Governor, Peter Yama presented the total grant of K312,000 to Yawar LLG President, Thomas Agek Kuangi witnessed by other Yawar ward councilors at the Sir Bato Bultin Complex.

The Madang Provincial Government has been empowering the 19 LLG ward councilors in Madang under the provincial government’s ‘Going Rural Policy’. 

He told the councilors that they are the backbone of the people at the LLG and ward level and the provincial government will continue to support them.

Speaking at the opening of the Legal Year at the Madang United Church on Tuesday February 1st, Governor Yama challenged the law and justice sectors to maintain the honour and dignity of their profession as essential agents of the administration of justice.

He also supported the Prime Minister’s statement that Australia’s visa requirements are discriminatory.

Yama said this on Thursday when asking on the wet-lease arrangement surrounding the two Australian Defence Force helicopters on lease to PNG.
