Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu

K5m to kick start Uni groundwork

The presentation was done at Ampo ELC-PNG Headquarters and was witnessed by ELC PNG Head Bishop Dr Jack Urame, his deputy Lucas Kedabing, Secretary Bernard Koisam, Lutheran University Chairman Dr Eric Kwa, university council members, and Morobe Provincial Administrator Bart Ipambonj.

The presentation arose from a commitment made initially by PM Marape in 2019 at Boana Synod and follows the endorsement of the Lutheran University Certificate during the Papua Synod in Port Moresby this year, then the passing of the Lutheran University Bill in Parliament last week.

Governor concerned with threats to staff

Governor Saonu said companies should adhere to the laws of the democratic nation of PNG.

“People have the freedom to get vaccinated or not. That is their choice,” he said.

“Companies can enforce strict COVID-19 protocols as advised by the National Health Department and World Health Organisation.”

Governor Saonu said business houses should not resort to sacking or terminating people for not taking the vaccine as this will have greater impact on the families of the workers, loss in production of company operations and a direct impact on the economy of the country.

K400,000 worth of projects underway

The Morobe Provincial Government and the Menyamya District Development Authority financially backed the projects.

The funding support includes:

  1. K30,000 to Tsevi Primary School
  2. K20,000 to Tsevi Aid Post
  3. K1,000 to two elementary schools
  4. K250,000 for Kome road link
  5. K100,000 for Tsevi missing link road

Morobe Governor Saonu said the K100,000 support for the missing link road will be an annual budgeted priority if the people themselves agree to assist and work on the road.
