Hold-up

The attempted hold up on an ice delivery truck driver went wrong for three men this morning, leaving one dead another in a critical condition while the third escaped.

Most criminals are using uniforms to gain trust before a hold- up or robbery is carried out.

On Wednesday, police apprehended two suspects who were part of a gang of men dressed in police uniforms as well as uniforms from other organisations.

The men were allegedly intercepted by a mobile squad unit around 11am, following a failed alleged hold-up.  

Police say at least one suspect was in a police uniform while another had on a T-Shirt with the logo of the Labour department.

For the husband, father and the driver of the vehicle that Saturday afternoon, it was a reaction that resulted from the thought of keeping his family alive.

In an exclusive interview with the couple this morning, Steljic said his reaction at that moment was nothing more than what any normal father would do.

He said: “I didn’t want to think about anything else except to get out of that situation – to save my family”.

The couple stated that it was a traumatising experience; especially with their children on board.
