VERATAU CHALLENGES TEAM GULF

Veratau said this in their meeting recently to help motivate the Gulf teams to do better in the PNG Games set for December in Port Moresby. 

Veratau said, “You're just jumping on the PMV and coming into town like you always do every day. So you don't have any excuse. You're going to be the biggest team and the strongest team. 

“You're going to come down here with one thing in mind, and that is to win as many medals and as much as possible.” 

Team Gulf to host corporate dinner

This event will take place on August 25th at the Dynasty Restaurant, will serve as an exciting build-up towards the upcoming Games. 

The Team Gulf Corporate Dinner aims to bring together reputed companies, entrepreneurs, and professionals, creating an environment of networking and collaboration. 

Firepower added for Team Gulf

Tua and Koime, who have had colourful careers in their respective sporting disciplines, are now involved as technical officials with Team Gulf.

Tua’s set a national record in women's long jump, 5.75m, during the then South Pacific Games in 1991 in Port Moresby.

This record was broken by Rellie Kaputin just before the 2015 Pacific Games with a jump of 5.79m.

Koime, on the other hand, was the former sprint queen before Toea Wisil broke her record of 11.37 with a time of 11.29m.

Gulf to participate in 14 codes at PNG Games

Provincial Sports Coordinator, Ake Maeoka said accreditation for the codes will be submitted by this week.

Team Gulf will participate in 14 codes at the Games.

The codes are touch footy, volleyball, rugby nines, soccer, dart, beach volleyball, taekwondo, karate, weightlifting, athletics, boxing, and basketball and Para sports.

 “We had some challenges with the accreditation software but we have managed to fill in and register all our athletes and officials so we are good to go.
