Dr Kwa Calls for Access to Ocean Fund

He made this known during a panel session last Wednesday, June 29, themed Bridge the Blue Finance Gap, in which he participated.

The panel discussed financing sustainable ocean-based economies in emerging markets, especially in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) solutions across the investment continuum.

PNG’s Marine Ecosystem Underexplored, Says Dr Kwa

The Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to the Second UN Ocean Conference in Lisbon, Portugal, Dr Eric Kwa made these remarks when speaking at the High-Level Interactive Dialogue# 2 with the theme, “Promoting and strengthening sustainable ocean-based economies, particular, Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Least Developed Countries (LDC).”

Dr Kwa said the application of a ‘blue’ economy concept in PNG’s National Ocean Policy is seen as a step in the right direction.

He said he was pleased Mr Guterres captured all the impacts our oceans face, globally and offered recommendations.

Basil Congratulates UAE

Minister Basil speaking on behalf of Prime Minister, James Marape praised UAE’s Minister of Tolerance H.E Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan and the UAE Government in coming up with an innovative and inclusive structure that allowed smaller developing nations like PNG to participate meaningfully. 

“The UAE Government’s support to my country is well documented and I thank your Government for this support and guidance that allowed Papua New Guinea to tell its story and share ideas and experiences with other participating countries of the world.
