Jamayne Isaako

BREAKING: Broncos flyer’s shock switch to link up with Queensland rivals

Isaako has already signed with the Dolphins for the 2023 season and fell down the pecking order in Red Hill.

It was widely reported that the 25-year-old would join up with the Eels, but has since made a shock switch with 9News Ben Dobbin reporting the winger wanted to remain in Queensland.

“The Broncos have granted Jamayne Isaako an immediate release from his contract with the club,” the club said in a statement.

“The Broncos were happy to facilitate the request and wish Jamayne and his young family all the best in the future, both on and off the field.”

Broncos star set to join Eels immediately

That is according to Triple M’s Ben Dobbin who is reporting the 25-year-old will be granted an immediate release from his Broncos contract.

Isaako’s Eels deal will be for the remainder of the season before he joines expansion club, the Dolphins on a three-year deal from 2023 — a deal he inked in December.

The 2018 Dally M Rookie of the Year has played 77 NRL games for the Broncos, including their Round 1 win over the Rabbitohs. However he did not feature in Round 2.

EELS KEEN ON ISAAKO BUT FACE HURDLE

The club was linked to Broncos’ goalkicking back Jamayne Isaako earlier this week as well as Broncos veteran Corey Oates.

Triple M’s Ben Dobbin reported on Wednesday that the Eels are “100 per cent” keen on Isaako and the Broncos “wouldn’t stand in his way.” All that needs to happen now is for a conversation between the two clubs to happen.

Dolphins lure Isaako from Broncos in cross-town switch

The 25-year-old is the second major signing by the Dolphins after Kangaroos and Maroons second-rower Felise Kaufusi last month agreed to a three-year deal.
