Wagambie appointment within law, Tsiamalili

Toroama in a statement stated that the appointment is unconstitutional and violates the Bougainville Peace Agreement, referring to Section 26 of the Organic Law on Peace Building on Bougainville and Section 237 of the Bougainville Peace Agreement.

These provisions, as highlighted by the President, clearly state that the Bougainville Police Commander should be appointed in consultation with the Bougainville Government.

Tsiamalili Jnr said he acknowledges and respects the provisions mentioned by ABG President Ishmael Toroama.

Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG) President, Ishmael Toroama, said for 2023, they will be building more roads, hospitals and schools.

“This election is very crucial to the future of Bougainville, and who we elect as our representatives in the National Parliament will determine our future based on their loyalty to Bougainville and commitment to serving our wish for independence that was expressed in 2019 Bougainville Referendum,” said the President.

“I urge every Bougainvillean to look beyond the campaign promises of monetary gain and delusions of grandeur that is evident during any election.

ABG Refutes G-G’s Statement

However, the Governor General, Sir Bob Dadae has warned of Papua New Guinea's disintegration should the National Government allow Bougainville to secede from the rest of the nation. 

He made this statement during the Remembrance Day celebrations in Port Moresby today. 

Sir Bob in his remarks strongly appealed to the Government not to entertain any idea of breaking away by any provinces as that will only lead to other provinces following suit.
