NIP Holds First PEC Meet

He was sworn in as Chairman of the Provincial Executive Council and Provincial Assembly on Monday 15 August, after being sworn into Parliament on 9th of August.

Lavongai LLG, President Andrew Minkiong was also sworn in as a new member of the PEC and Chairman of Transport, Works and Infrastructure.

Officiating at the swearing in ceremony was Senior Provincial Magistrate, Patricia Tivese. She emphasized on virtues of serving the people and living up to the oath of office.

PEC Approves Election Sub-Committee

The PEC recently held a meeting on Tuesday 2 November, approving the set-up of a sub-committee of three members, Deputy Governor, Sammy Missen, Chairman for Law and Order, Edwin Maigen and Chairman for Transport & Infrastructure, Clement Mosson to work with the Provincial Election Steering Committee.

 

The steering committee will hold weekly briefings with the sub-committee primarily to clear doubts about Election Form 11 for new enrolments and updating of the election roll by unauthorized persons.

 

Jigede Appointed as Chairperson

The Provincial Executive Council endorsed her appointment during its July meeting. Veronica Jigede takes up the position after it remained vacant since former CEO Memafu Kapera’s contract was complete.

Jigede achieved an MBA in Administration Development and Bachelors in Business Degree from the Charles Darwin University. As a well-respected leader, Jigede’s reputation precedes her with her wealth of knowledge and work experience in various fields in Namatanai and Kavieng.

WNB leaders encouraged to work together

Kandrian Gloucester MP Joseph Lelang was not present to be sworn in with the two leaders.

Making their declarations of loyalty to serve the people of West New Britain, the leaders have committed to serve the people wholeheartedly and bring services to them.

Governor Muthuvel said team work is needed by the leaders in order for the people to get the basic services.

He called on other provincial leaders to put away their differences and move the province forward.
