New medical insurance for Police Association

Parnell Assurance PNG Limited takes over from the National Teacher Insurance Corporation whose term has lapsed, according to Police Association.

Association president Lowa Tambua said the aim of changing the medical insurer is because the association intends to provide are reliable and efficient medical services to its members.

Police Association Commends Members

National President, Lowa Tambua said unlike 2017 where many police officers lost their lives under varying circumstances, the police force has done a marvelous job.

He said although there are many issues raised by citizens and other stakeholders in the manner the election was conducted, it has nothing to down to the work of the police and other security personal.

These issued raised under ambit of the Electoral Commission and the Government which they only can address. The police association is only concerned about the safety and welfare of the police officers.

Police association fed up with payment issues

In a press briefing today, the Police Association of Papua New Guinea says the outstanding APEC allowance is only a recent problem.

The Association outlined major longstanding issues that are yet to be addressed.

The first issue involves the service allowance as per the Enterprise Based Agreements that has not been honoured since 2010. The total amount owed to police personnel nationwide, as per these EBAs, is K90 million, and the amount is increasing every fortnight.

Police Association condemns Sir Mekere’s criticism

The Police Association of Papua New Guinea has strongly condemned Sir Mekere Morauta’s criticism of the current government not paying police personnel’s salaries on time.

National President, Lowa Tambua said this relating to an article published by The National on 15/02/2017.

Tambua said the members prefer to maintain impartiality in their conduct, therefore would not want to promote political propaganda in any circumstance.

“The current government is adequately addressing all welfare and employment issues within the police force.”
