NBC Morobe

The tinted 10-seater was stoned following a misunderstanding between residents there and the NBC crew at the Milfordhaven polling venue.

The NBC team reported that their camera was snatched by some men there, but was returned soon after.

After hearing of the incident, Lae MP and Deputy Prime Minister, John Rosso, and his team spoke with NBC and advised all media personnel to make sure they can be clearly identified as media, whether it means to drive around in a marked vehicle or wear their uniforms and ID cards.

Morobe Governor, Ginson Saonu, on the 16th of June presented the cheque to NBC’s managing director, Kora Nou, in Lae.

Morobe Deputy Provincial Administrator, corporate services, Miring Singoling, outlined that the commitment was part of a memorandum of understanding that was signed between MPG and NBC.

“Aninit lo displa MoU, it’s a 5-year understanding that province bai putim a certain amount of money every year i go inap 5 years and after 5 years, we’ll put together ideas on how to build and improve infrastructure here,” he stated.

The NBC Managing director accompanied the Communications Minister to Lae for the reopening.

NBC managing director, Kora Nou, said the reopening of NBC New Ireland on Friday, May 22^nd, and the May 28^th reopening for NBC Morobe are quite significant for the National Broadcasting Corporation.

Such major renovations have been completed using NBC’s own budgetary allocation – since the facilities were transferred by the ABC in 1973.
