MP Offers Reconciliation Meet

Mr Schnaubelt made the offer at the Kavieng Airport recently in response to the women in Kavieng who protested on his arrival demanding that the three New Ireland Members reconcile and work together for the good of the province.

He said: I have no problem with the reconciliation and am happy to sit with Member for Kavieng, Ian Ling-Stuckey and Governor Sir Julius for a reconciliation ceremony.”

Oil and Gas Discovered in Namatanai

Schnaubelt made the announcement at the launch of another Belhat Development Project at Pulmalum in Konoagil Local Level Government (LLG) recently.

He said an exploration company called Peak, carried out some work and discovered oil and gas that is five times bigger than that in Hides.

“It could be one of the biggest reserve in the world and the size of the oil and gas starts at Nambuto in Namatanai LLG and ends in Point Simun in Lihir Island.

“We have a chance to expand the development in the district if this exploration is confirmed.

Carbon Trade Policy

Minister Schnaubelt who recently launched the Belhat Development Project 131 in Matalai Local Level Government (LLG), told the villagers to report to his office of any such investors.

“I warn you all to be careful about people that come to sign up your forests because they will come with money to deceive you. They will give you little money but will take advantage of your forests to sell to overseas countries.
