Raiders sign PNG star

Ottio arrived in Canberra at the beginning of the 2016 pre-season on a train and trial contract, with his performances on the training paddock, at the Auckland Nines and the Raiders trial match against the Knights allowing him to secure a two year deal.

The former PNG Hunter said he's excited about having the opportunity to continue his time at the Raiders and was excited about the next chapter in his young career.

In an interview today from his home at Tatana village, Ottio said he had so far enjoyed the experience and was trying to make the most of the opportunity of training under one of the best in the business, Raiders coach Ricky Stuart.

“It was tough for me the first week. The training there is at a much higher level but I eventually got used to it and caught up.

“Ricky Stuart and the coaching staff have been really helpful. We’re working on everything from my passing to catching to running the ball.
