The 26-year-old Bulldogs recruit assumes the role in the absence of Rabbitohs playmaker Cody Walker who is unavailable for this year’s clash.

Saturday’s game will be Addo-Carr’s third for the Indigenous All Stars. He’ll be joined by the likes of Alex Johnston, David Fifita, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Nicho Hynes.

The NRL confirmed the appointment on Monday night.

Addo-Carr, who has joined the Bulldogs this season, recorded the highest speed in the NRL when he clocked 38.5km/h on the Telstra Tracker while playing for Melbourne against North Queensland in 2019.

Wide World of Sports reports Addo-Carr lodged a complaint with the Bulldogs on Wednesday and the club has passed the matter onto the NRL.

A Canterbury source told WWOS that an NRL senior intelligence officer has been engaged after Addo-Carr was subjected to vile attacks.

“Josh Addo-Carr has been receiving racial comments on his media platforms,” the source said.

To'o had been earmarked to play on the right flank in his Blues debut outside Tom Trbojevic with Addo-Carr set to form a dangerous partnership with centre Latrell Mitchell on the other side.

To'o and Addo-Carr swapped roles as the Blues practised their attacking movements, including cross-field kicks at Homebush.

The pair insisted they would line up against the Maroons as initially expected at Townsville's QCB Stadium on Wednesday night.

"We were just going in and out just in case one of us gets injured; especially with my knee, obviously," To'o told NRL.com.

Addo-Carr happy to be the next Koroibete

The former Wests Tigers speedster joined the Storm on a three-year deal in an almost identical move made by the man he is likely to replace.

Addo-Carr will join the club at the end of the season in a deal that will see him wear the purple jersey until the end of 2019.

The 20-year-old winger has played four NRL games for the Tigers, scoring three tries and made his NRL debut against Storm in Round 7 of this season.

"I'd like to make it clear to our members and fans that Wests Tigers made a very competitive offer to retain Joshua for the next few years and while we're disappointed we wish him well," Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said.
