Addo-Carr appointed captain as Naden gets call-up to Indigenous All Stars squad

Star winger Josh Addo-Carr has been appointed captain of the Indigenous All Stars team ahead of Saturday’s clash with the Maori All Stars.

The 26-year-old Bulldogs recruit assumes the role in the absence of Rabbitohs playmaker Cody Walker who is unavailable for this year’s clash.

Saturday’s game will be Addo-Carr’s third for the Indigenous All Stars. He’ll be joined by the likes of Alex Johnston, David Fifita, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow and Nicho Hynes.

The NRL confirmed the appointment on Monday night.

Meanwhile, Addo-Carr’s new Dogs teammate Brent Naden has also been added to the squad as well as Latrell Mitchell’s older brother, Shaquai. The additions come after Jack Bird withdrew on Sunday due to an injury.

Latrell has previously been one of the Indigenous All Stars team’s leaders, but is unavailable this year due to a suspension.

Naden and Addo-Carr recently linked up when they both made the move to Belmore ahead of the 2022 season.

This will be Naden and Mitchell’s first opportunity to represent the Indigenous All Stars.

The game kicks off at CommBank Stadium on Saturday at 8.10pm. Prior to the men’s game, the women’s Indigenous All Stars and Maori All Stars sides will face-off at 5.20pm.
