Police foil robbery at Waigani bank

Police had received information of suspicious looking individuals in a white sedan frequenting the Westpac Waigani branch.

Police report that an NCD Zone 3 Response Unit went to check the area when they noticed a suspect who was outside the vehicle.

“When he saw Police approaching he attempted to run away when a member of the Zones Response Unit chased him down and apprehended him while the other members in the Police vehicle gave chase to the white sedan, which sped off,” said acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) for NCD/Central, Anthony Wagambie Jnr.

Hostage saved in foiled robbery

Lae police boss, Anthony Wagambie Jnr, reported that between four to five men held up a driver and took his vehicle.

“The owner of the vehicle was threatened and forcefully escorted to a secluded area at the back of Peter Block Kamkumung,” stated the chief superintendent.

“The criminals were planning to hold the vehicle owner as hostage while they use his vehicle to commit robbery at a nearby shop.”

Prime suspects in nursing school rape arrested

Three suspects were arrested in a raid at Banana camp settlement in Lae on Sunday, in relation to the rape and robbery of two female students at the Angau School of Nursing.
