Youth leader from Kay Kona at Watabung, Tennis Pepna, said the incident occurred around 3pm.

Tawai Track development on hold

The project is a community initiative of Vincent Kumura, the Digicel PNG Foundation Men of Honour and the Managing Director of the Snow Pass Eco-Lodge (SPEL) in Bundi.

The track passes through some of the most breathtaking lookouts and views of the Ramu Valley, Mt. Wilhelm, Madang, Ramu Sugar, Goroka townships and many other notable sites.

He said they climb mountains and cross rivers – a first time for most – and he is so proud of their tireless contribution.

"They have done a tremendous job in ensuring peace and harmony in our communities. And I applaud them for the contribution," Nombe said.

She has also invested in other areas of importance, like education.
