Goroka Show to attract over 500 tourists

The 60th National Gaming Control Board Goroka Show will be attracting over 500 tourists this year.

The show is scheduled during the Papua New Guinea Independence celebrations from September 16-18 at the Goroka Show Grounds in Eastern Highlands Province.

Organiser Keryn Hargreaves said over 500 tourists from countries as far as Israel, Germany, UK, Japan, Italy, USA, China and Australia are confirmed to attend.

Hargreaves said accommodation in Goroka is all sold out as tour groups booked two years in advance for the Goroka Show.

“We are still getting email requests from international tourists looking for accommodation and homestays.

“Preparation is on schedule and construction of corporate and sponsors’ stalls are into its third week,” Hargreaves said.

All stalls are built out of local materials to go inline with the cultural theme of the show, with individual stalls all sold out.

Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) stalls are still available for SMEs in neighbouring Chimbu and Jiwaka province.

Activities include traditional singsing, live concerts, children’s festival, parades and firework displays.
