Funding Committed For Manus Projects

PM Marape presented a K10 million cheque to the Governor of Manus, Charlie Benjamin, witnessed by the Member for Manus, Job Pomat.  

This funding will go towards starting work on the East West National Highway area that is in the jurisdiction of the provincial government, while waiting for a contract to be issued to a contractor who will work on the roads. 

Manus MPs support fisheries hub idea

Speaker and Manus Open MP, Job Pomat, along with Manus Governor Charlie Benjamin, threw their support behind the announcement made by National Planning and Monitoring Minister, Richard Maru, who visited the Province last weekend.

Maru was accompanied by a high level delegation which included the European Union Ambassador to PNG, Ioannis Giogkarakis-Argyropoulos.

Pomat said if the Solomon Islands had a cannery on a remote island far from the capital Honiara, why not Manus.

Governor Benjamin, when announcing the host province, urged all NGI provinces to participate, regardless of distance.

"Manus has been participating in all the tournaments even as far as coming here in Kimbe and Rabaul," Governor Benjamin said.

“The next tournament in Bougainville will definitely be miles away from Manus but we are prepared to send in four teams to the tournament.
