Big Rooster

Big Rooster: We don’t import the chicken!

This assurance comes in time of widespread public fear following a warning issued on illegal poultry products in the country.

Authorities raised concerns after discovering some of such uncooked, frozen poultry products in a Port Moresby shop last Monday.

This has caused fear among residents, especially, in eating out at fast foods and restaurant.

But Big Rooster assures its customers there is nothing to fear.

Big Rooster to include Kids Menu soon

As part of its 30th anniversary changes, the fast food aims to introduce a kids menu.

In this effort, Big Rooster is allowing the participation of children to determine the box and menu board design.

The fast food today started a drawing competition for children between the ages 5 to 12.

Each child can submit as many entries he or she chooses, based on either of two themes: 1. My family time at Big Rooster and/or 2. My playtime with Mr Rooster.

This is only open to Port Moresby and Lae.

Entries can be dropped off at any BR outlets in the two cities.

Big Rooster has vision for expansion

Did you know that there’s a Big Rooster outlet at the Steamships Plaza in Downtown Port Moresby?

These two outlets follow the acquisition of another fastfood chain, Chicken Delight.

And guess what? There’s more to come, according to a spokesperson from Big Rooster.

Anurag Borkar said Big Rooster aims to be the kitchen of the country and is currently on an expansion spree.

It's Big Rooster time at VC

It was a long-time coming but the megamall finally can now boast a big rooster outlet.

The popular white bird with the big "R" on its chest stands smiling in place where Chicken Delight once stood.

The outlet opened its doors to the public on Sunday after serving its first meal to special guests from the Chesire Home, as tradition.

“We always wanted to come here to Vision City so we are excited to be here. It’s been pretty hectic but good to see the response. It validates our decision to come here,” a spokesperson, Anurag Borkar told Loop PNG.

Police hunting 4 over Big Rooster holdup

NCD Central police commander Jerry Frank tells PNG Loop that the case involved  4 suspects who managed to get away with K2700 in cash.

The holdup  took place between 1pm and 1.30pm.

According to Frank, two men held up the cashier and 2 stood guard at the door.

The men were armed with two factory made pistols.

Meantime, Frank says that NCD police are chasing down leads into the robbery as well as interviewing witnesses and staff who were present at the time of the crime.

Bystander wounded in Big Rooster armed holdup

According to security staff,  five men armed with three pistols went into the Big Rooster outlet, held up the staff and took at least K1500.

A security guard stationed inside says he was held at gun point and told to  lie flat on the floor.

“They pointed the gun at my head because I had a hand held radio with me. They told me to lie still or they would shoot me,” he says.

The guards say one man stood holding the door while two others went into the office where cash was kept.

Another armed man was left manning the main gate of the compound.
