Police To Maintain Security Operations

The assurance came from Police Media Unit Director, Chief Superintendent Dominic Kakas during a security briefing with World Vision (PNG) officers.

He stated that business will be as usual and while numbers of officers will be stretched during the election, police stations will continue to assist the public.

Mr Kakas stated that security forces have always been aware of the election process and the responsibility of the PNG Electoral Commission.

Markham will support World Vision initiatives in district

The MoU provides a framework of the corporation and coordination between WVPNG and the Markham District Administration, articulating roles and responsibilities of both parties which will be running for five years.

World Vision country program director Heather Macleod says this MoU is for the implementation of the Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WASH) project, Maternal Newborn Child Health and Nutrition (MNCHN) as well as Disaster and Risk Reduction (DRR) through the World Vision Morobe Area Program Office.

The ‘Big Village’ aims to clean it up with World Vision and partners

Instead of wooden thatched houses, the ‘Big Village’ as it is referred to nowadays, while still standing on stilts over the water, and still observing many traditional customs, is home to about 18,000 men, women and children (or maybe more) in homes built with concrete fibre, timber with corrugated roofing.
