Crowns launched for World Supermodel PNG

Another milestone event achieved for World Supermodel PNG.

The big reveal was made by the official jeweller Jules Collins today at its shop in Vision City, unveiling two crowns for each categories – Adult and Teen.

Sparkling and fit for a queen with a bird of paradise atop to call Papua New Guinea, as the representative walks the international runway.

The crowns are made from a combination of base metal, sterling silver and swarovski crystals and cubic zirconias.

World Supermodel PNG makes progress

Kelegai sat with Loop PNG entertainment to talk about the progress of this first of its kind pageant in the country.

With the support of other like-minded people, Kelegai is grooming 13 young women in PNG to compete for the titles World Super Model PNG adult and teen respectively.

Two winners will be representing PNG to Macau, China, for the World Supermodel pageant.

World Supermodel PNG to launch crowns

World Supermodel PNG will be launching two crowns for local pageant in the coming week.

National director and founder Philma Kelegai said the sponsor, Jules Collins will be revealing the crowns to the public on March 7.

This will also come with the unveiling of the pageant’s glamour calendar – also believed to be the first of its kind in PNG.

The calendar features each contestant of the two categories – Adult and Teen.

World Supermodel PNG to use Paraka wardrobe

Vanessa Paraka did not think for a second when she was approached to be the official sponsor of World Supermodel PNG photo-shoot wardrobe.

Besides, she was looking for ways to put her more than 200 dresses into good use.

Yes! More than 200 dresses is correct.

“I bought these dresses over the years but have worn them only one time to either school functions or other formal events.

“I was going to sell them but then was approached by World Supermodel PNG to supply their wardrobe,” Paraka said.

World Supermodel PNG enters new phase

The introduced pageant staged it's first big event Spring Runway, coinciding with the Melbourne Cup on November 1 this year.

The pageant is now discussing the next phase which will be photo shoot sessions in the coming weeks.

According to the organisers, the shoot is to bring confidence to contestants in front of cameras and identify the photogenic contestant from the 13.

This is an important part of journey, required on the international pageant.

The first photo shoot will be this Sunday at the Tubuserea village church.

Great introduction for World Supermodel PNG

This inaugural runway is the event to introduce pageant contestants for the two categories, teen and adult World Supermodel PNG.

Staged at the Lamana Hotel yesterday, the event was hailed a success by National Director Phylma Kelegai, as this year’s 13 contestants walked the runway, already considered as the longest runway in PNG and the Pacific.

“This is a great introduction. We put a lot of hard work into it but it was worth. The girls were very beautiful,” Phylma said.

Spring Runway opens with World Supermodel PNG set to excite

The runway is a judging phase of World Supermodel PNG, which began early this month.

Spring runway will introduce 13 contestants into the pageant and choose the top 10 models to compete in the world supermodel PNG, local platform in 2017.

There are two categories, adult category will see 8 contestants, while the teen category will see five contestants.

This pageant is the first of its kind and World supermodel PNG national director Phylma Kelegai said preparations to it are going well.

World Supermodel boosts young women’s confidence

But, most of them reveal that prior to joining the World Supermodel PNG, they have always lacked confidence, particularly with public speaking.

The models have credited this positive change to Philma Kelegai, the national director and founder of World Supermodel PNG.

Kelegai is a woman with a vision.

She is co-founder for The Leniata Legacy, a group that advocates for gender equality in the workplace, leadership, politics, business, health, talent, and sport for Papua New Guinean women.

Organisation aims to help young ladies

National Director, Philma Kelegai says the international platform which was introduced early this year aims to economically empower young women and give them exposure into the industry.

She said another platform built from this avenue was the agency that has already attracted at least 80 models to date, both male and female.

Kelegai said with much negativity in the society, she wanted to establish a safe place for young women, through this platform, an environment where they can feel free to express themselves.
