SP Brewery launches new tavern at Nine-Mile

The tavern comes under SP Brewery’s Settlement Tavern Project aimed at  alleviating social problems associated with alcohol like drinking in public places and disturbing the peace in the community.

The project aims to roll out 20 taverns throughout the country with three taverns already set up at Gaire in Central Province, Baruni in the National Capital District and Nine-Mile Settlement.

Part of the settlement tavern package is a 20 foot container equipped with some coolers, a generator, two dart boards, a TV screen and a playbox.

SP pours in K400,000 for 2016 Digicel Cup

The cheque presentation made to the PNGNRL was done today at the SP Brewkettle in Port Moresby.

It was witnessed by several franchise owners of Digicel Cup teams and the PNG Rugby Football League.

Managing Director of SP Brewery, Stan Joyce said SP was not new to rugby league having been the major sponsor of the SP Intercity Cup as it was known back in the early 1990s.

“The competition is something that SP nurtured for many many years and we maintain this relationship today.

PNG Open recognised with Queensland award

This comes under the Queensland Golf Industry Awards.

The award was today presented to SP Brewery for the year’s SP Export Radler PNG Open.

Speaking at the event, president of the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club, Mark Stallard said the PNG Open is a tournament that is played at a very high standard and this continues to lift every year.

He said the PNG Open has now moved up to Tier 2.

Managing director of SP Brewery Stan Joyce said the award was a result of hundreds of thousands of kina invested into the sport of golf plus team work over nine years.

Rugby gets K400,000 for national tournament

This sponsorship is focused on building the game at a provincial level through two channels, namely the Export Rugby Championships and the Export Rugby Sevens Series.

SP Brewery marketing manager Roger Harwood said  SP under the brand South Pacific Export Larger is delighted to have an ongoing association with rugby union in PNG.

“Our association to the code started in 2005 and has included the sevens and fifteens format of the game focused on developing the code locally,” he said.

K35 000 total prize money for Sports Awards

Managing Director, Stan Joyce said they’re happy to bring to the country the 24th SP Sports Awards that recognises sporting excellence in the country in 2015.

“SP Brewery remains steadfast in supporting sports in PNG and our historic partnership with the PNG Olympic Committee will ensure that we bring this prestigious event again this year.

“I’d like to encourage all of us to get behind our sporting athletes, coaches, administrators and sports scribers and nominate for the 2016 SP Sports Awards,” said Joyce.

Nominations opened yesterday and close on April 1.

Brewery turns on K10,000 tap for Pacific Pageant

The sponsorship will also assist the Pageants' scholarship fund to educate young girls in the country.

MPIP PNG committee member, Mrs Molly O'Rourke said Many of our scholarship beneficiaries are scattered around the country.

"Some of them are attending vocational or technical colleges, and universities.

 "With support from companies like SP Brewery, we will continue to educate more and more young girls," she said.

Mt Hagen Show gets backing from SP

This time, supporting the Mt Hagen Cultural Show with ten thousand kina.

Regional Sales Manager, Rutger Scheer confirmed the Brewery’s involvement saying they are proud to support the show.

He said such events showcases the rich cultural traditions from the Western Highlands as well as from neighbouring provinces.

He further added that the annual support from SP Brewery to various provincial shows is a firm testament of their support in preserving PNG’s rich cultural diversity.
