New Ireland sets new alcohol policy

Under this policy, beer may be sold by any trade store in any location as long as they register with the Liquor Board.

It may sound strange, but the policy to allow beer to be sold without restriction is to improve law and order.

According to research, when alcohol sales are banned, especially on holidays, drunken behaviour and crimes increase.

A trial to allow the sale of alcohol on certain holidays over the past 5 years has shown drunken altercations and crime declined.

Beer tastes different when you're in the air

After all, inflight offerings are usually limited to mass-produced beers like Budweiser, Carlsberg or Tsing Tao.

But a few airlines are pouring some love into onboard beer experiences.

Kicking off the movement, Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) teamed up with Danish brewer Mikkeller in 2014. Since then, the airline has introduced a dozen specialty beers on routes around the world.

Isinglass: The fishy ingredient in beer that bothers vegetarians

Now the Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) is calling on brewers to remove it from their drinks. But why is fish put in beer anyway?

Ask somebody to list the classic ingredients of beer and the chances are they will come back with: hops, malt, barley and water, with a bit of yeast thrown in for good measure.

It is unlikely the swim bladder of fish would be on the list, but isinglass - a gelatine made using the organ - is in fact very likely to be in your average pint.

How alcohol affects your heart health

But use of alcohol—which is a risk factor for heart problems—is something you can control.

Most adults can drink alcohol in moderation and be fine. That means 1 to 2 drinks a day for men and 1 drink a day for women. A drink is 12 ounces of beer, 4 ounces of wine, or 1 to 1.5 ounces of spirits, depending on the proof.

However, there's more you should know about alcohol and your heart.

Dangers of Excessive Drinking

Drinking too much alcohol causes more than a high. Here are some of the ways alcohol affects your heart:
