Souths sign former Eels half after injury blow

Tracey recently signed a two-year deal but will undergo a knee reconstruction for the third time in three years.

According to Fox Sports, the injury allowed Souths to lock in a new halfback.

Kelly only played one game for the Eels in 2016, due to his own knee reconstruction, and was not re-signed at the end of the season.

South Sydney Rabbitohs belt Warriors 41-22 in one-sided clash

The 26-year-old Reynolds laid on three first-half tries with grubber kicks behind the Warriors' defence, also kicking a field goal and landing five from six conversions.

The half-back was subsequently hauled off in the 46th minute with a hamstring injury.

The Warriors, who entered the match as strong favourites, drop to ninth on the ladder and will rue missing the opportunity to cement themselves in the top eight.

Souths will take confidence from their performance in what has been a disappointing 2016 campaign.

Panthers celebrate Wallace's 200th in style

The hosts looked in complete control up by 14 points with seven minutes to go, but a late double to Sam Burgess set up a dramatic final minute with a Cody Walker kick just eluding Aaron Gray from the last play of the game.

The Rabbitohs looked the better side in the first half and even led with 22 minutes to go but were eventually run down by a Penrith team desperate to celebrate skipper Peter Wallace's 200th NRL game with a win.

Maguire pays tribute to departing half

It was revealed on Tuesday afternoon that the Roosters had signed the 24-year-old on a two-year-deal starting in 2017.

Maguire said he would have liked to have kept Keary in Redfern beyond 2016 but conceded salary cap pressures had played their part in the decision.

"All those great players that you have let go of at some stage; it's about the salary cap and what goes on in club land," he said.

"Luke and I have talked about him staying but also the opportunities for him to leave, and for various reasons he's chosen those.

Classy Cowboys too good for Souths

The reigning premiers showed it all against a hapless Bunnies side that has lost four of their past five, and will sweat on the health of star Greg Inglis after the fullback left the field with apparent concussion symptoms in the second half.

Justin O'Neill bagged a brace in his 100th NRL game, but the decision over the three Dally M points will not be an easy one, with Lachlan Coote, Johnathan Thurston and Michael Morgan all having huge nights.

Both sides packed a lot of football into a high-quality first half.

Souths hooker battle heating up

Cook was one of the Rabbitohs' best in an otherwise dour Charity Shield, providing the side with an immediate spark from the moment he entered the fray.

To his credit, the team's starting hooker, Cameron McInnes, was more than solid, setting up John Sutton for the game's opening try, and forcing a line dropout with a well-placed grubber.

Cook was full of praise for his 22-year-old teammate, crediting him for Souths' solid start.

"Cam is really good at that," Cook said following his side's 18-14 win over the Dragons.

Souths continue Charity Shield dominance

It was a largely scrappy affair with execution and ball handling a massive concern for both sides.

The night was a successful one for the new rule interpretations with the shot clock cutting down on breaks in play while scrums were formed or drop-outs taken, while it looks like a by-product may be less debate around how play is restarted when there is contention over which side took a ball dead in goal.

It took 78 minutes but Rabbitohs bench player Patrice Siolo was the only player penalised for an incorrect play the ball.

Rabbitohs sign Nielsen

The 30-year-old former Storm, Warriors and Dragons player won two premierships during his time at Melbourne.

"Dane brings with him big game experience which will be invaluable for the young members of our backline,” Rabbitohs coach Michael Maguire said.

"He's prepared to put in the work and fight for a spot in our backline, and competition for spots is what every Club looks for."
