Game of Thrones used in attempt to lure tourists to Aleppo

Bashar al-Assad's regime released a promotional video Friday with panoramic views of government-held parts of Aleppo, accompanied by an acoustic version of the theme music to the popular HBO television series.

Showcased in the video are aerial shots of wide green boulevards and swimming pools. It's a far cry from the rebel-held eastern part of the city, where 250,000 people live with daily airstrikes, according to the UN, and where whole blocks of neighborhoods have been destroyed.

“We know that actions to promote food security can help prevent a crisis, mitigate its impacts and promote post-crisis recovery and healing,” Graziano da Silva said.

Conflicts are a key driver of protracted crises, where hunger is three times more likely than in the rest of the developing world, while the countries with the highest levels of food insecurity are also those most affected by conflict.

Also to include the States concerned in solutions, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said.

“At the same time, regional organizations should continue contributing to United Nations peace and security efforts. We count on them for political leverage as well as civilian and military capacities,” Ban told the Security Council, during an open debate on the subject of regional organizations and contemporary global security challenges.
