Speaking to Loop PNG, Nerau said ratification of the defects have been rectified and they have now moved to tender the operation of the Lae Port, including the Motukea Port outside of Port Moresby.
He said an operator is expected to be announced soon.
Phase one of the Lae Tidal Basin wharf, whch cost K809 million began early in 2012 by China Harbour Engineering Limited (CHEC) and was completed at the end of 2014.
Before Phase Two could begin, defects were discovered by Australian engineering company AECOM, following a siltation study in 2015.
