Late Kamma, a ‘healer’

Kumul Consolidated Holdings (KCH) Chairman Paul Nerau has described the late Member for South Bougainville Steven Kamma Pirika as the ‘healer’ bringing healing and peace to the people of his electorate and to the people of Bougainville.

The late Kamma  was the Minister assisting the Prime Minister when he passed on.

He was Member for South Bougainville and a staunch member of the United Resource Party.

He was Bougainville Affairs Minister in the 2011-12 O’Neill-Namah Government and retained the ministry after winning the 2012 National Election.

Nerau in his condolence message said: “We have lost a great leader. At this time of mourning I wish to echo the words of our Prime Minister. The late Steven Kamma served the people of Papua New Guinea with honour and distinction. Kamma worked to bring healing and peace to the people of his electorate and to the people of Bougainville.”

“As a fellow Bougainvillean I am saddened at our loss. This is truly a sad time for our country and yet another sad time for the people of Bougainville. However I wish to praise the life of Steven Kamma and give thanks to God that we were blessed to have Mr Kamma provide such wonderful leadership and service to his people. Vale Steven Kamma Pirika and may your soul rest in eternal peace.”

“Our sincere condolences go out to his family, relatives and his many friends.”

The late Kamma passed away on Saturday February 20, 2016 while seeking medical treatment in Manila.

A State Funeral is currently being planned.
