Rabbitohs release Chris Grevsmuhl

Grevsmuhl played 29 NRL games for the Rabbitohs having made his debut in round one, 2015, scoring eight tries for the Club.

This was to be Grevsmuhl’s final season in the red and green having already signed a contract to join another NRL Club for the 2017 season.

Rabbitohs General Manager of Football Shane Richardson said: “Chris has developed his skills into an NRL footballer at our Club since making his debut at the beginning of last season.

“We wish him the best of luck in the future.”

Knights co-captain announces retirement

"It has been an amazing ride, and while I will have a bit more time to look back when it is all done, I am proud to have achieved what I have in my career," Smith said.

"There are a lot of players who have played more games than I have and haven’t had the chance to play in grand finals let alone win one.

"It has certainly been a privilege and honour to play this game."

Having currently played 201 games, at four different clubs for two premiership wins, the veteran forward knows the time is right.

Quiet rep weekend a positive for Warriors

Traditionally the Warriors have been among the NRL Telstra Premiership's biggest providers of playing talent to national teams, with a large core of New Zealand and Pacific Islands players in their side.

But this year was a different story, with only three Warriors named for Saturday's clash with the Panthers in Christchurch – Solomone Kata [Tonga], David Fusitu'a [Tonga] and Shaun Johnson [New Zealand] – having taken part in representative fixtures.

Saifiti twins extend Knights contracts

The 20-year old twins, who both debuted in Round 1 this season and remain eligible to play in the Under 20s competition, were signed until the end of season 2017.

This week the Saifiti brothers signed for an additional year, keeping them at the club until at least the end of the 2018 season.

"Daniel and Jacob have been in our system for some time now and we are delighted to secure them at the Club long term," coach Nathan Brown said.

"They have both impressed this year and we know they will only continue to improve.

Canberra blowout Tigers' blessing in disguise

The Tigers headed into their Round 8 clash with the Raiders on the back of five straight losses – albeit fairly tight defeats – and the mood in camp suggested they were still on the right track.

That all changed in the nation's capital as they were trounced 60-6 in a performance that threatened to send their season spiralling out of control.

According to the playing group, the 54-point hiding did the complete opposite.

"No loss is needed but when you get a blowout you really take a good look at yourself," Grant said.

Meanwhile, a high tackle charge on Samoa's Frank Pritchard has been referred to the English RFL, with Pritchard playing for Super League club Hull FC.
