Jonathan Thurston

PNG rugby league on right path: JT

‘JT’ joined the Fone Haus team in PNG as their new ambassador in a live in house launch via Zoom early this week.

During the video launch, Thurston spoke fondly of the how influential rugby league is in the lives of Papua New Guineans.

He said having the PNG Hunters in the Queensland Intrust Super Cup is a big step towards the process of getting a PNG team to the NRL Competition in the not too distant future.

Cowboys mark JT's 300th with win over Sharks

Thurston turned in a solid performance in his milestone night, but apart from his grubber to seal the Cowboys' victory, appeared short on match fitness. On the whole, it was a scrappy affair with both sides well below their best.

Kyle Feldt began his season in ideal fashion, with a towering bomb getting enough hang time to allow a pack of Cowboys forwards to drive Matt Prior back into his own in-goal.

The Cowboys showed they were ready to play patient early, as Jake Granville rolled a grubber into the in-goal to force a repeat set.

Jonathan Thurston backed new ‘ Roots Long Grain’ rice launched

This is a new rice product introduced under Trukai’s popular ‘ROOTS’ value brand, which is focused on providing a value for money, high quality rice for grass roots consumers.

“With the launch of our Roots Long Grain Rice range we are providing an affordable rice option to the low-income consumer, while still providing a product that is of high quality and flavour,” said Trukai GM Sales and Marketing, Andrew Daubney.

Thurston honoured to fulfil Murray's legacy

Clive Churchill medallist, three-time Golden Boot winner, Dally M Player of the Year a stunning four times, and now a premiership- and World Club Challenge-winning captain, Johnathan Thurston's rise to greatness coincided with his move north to team up with then-Cowboys coach, the late and great Graham Murray.

The North Queensland club's rise to greatness coincided with the recruitment of Murray in 2002.
