Nilkare cautions Gov’t on proposed Oil Palm Policy

But at the same time cautioned the Government to look at both the advantage and disadvantages of the policy and come up with a win-win solution for both the growers and milling companies.

Mr Nilkare was speaking today during the Oil Palm Policy Regional Consultation at Loloata Reef Resort in Kimbe, West New Britain Province.

“We support the Government in this initiative to establish the National Oil Palm Policy.”

However, he warned that the Government not to rush the legislations but set a standard in the country within the PNG oil palm platform.

Ruth Jordan-Som is the chairlady of WEW and she spoke of the challenges faced in violence making it one of the main social issues in the community.

Reports on attack on WNB doctors untrue, says NBPOL

According to media reports last month, two doctors in Kimbe were attacked by the NBPOL Kumbango Division 3 community.

Statements from the doctors submitted to NBPOL also reported theft of personal items. They reported very dramatic and horrific experiences of the incident against NBPOL and its Kumbango Division 3 community of workers and their families.

However, during the NBPOL management’s roundtable discussion with the WNB Provincial Health Authority and the Kimbe Chapter of the National Doctors Association on August 13, reconciliation took place.
