Anti-corruption efforts strengthened

The programme, funded by the Governments of Japan, Solomon Islands, and the United Kingdom and supported by the UN Development Programme (UNDP), aims to foster cooperation and information exchange between the two Financial Intelligence Units and strengthen SIFIU's analysis, supervision, and management capacities.

The two-week intensive programme will benefit four senior and newly recruited staff personnel within the intelligence, policy, and supervision divisions of SIFIU.

UNICEF, Japan Aids Pacific Nations

The partnership covers support to the Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.

Ambassador of Japan in Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru and Tuvalu, Kawakami Fumihiro said: “The Government of Japan is aware of how hard Pacific Island governments are working to protect the population from COVID-19.

Six leave for Japan youth program

The youths were selected from the fields of government, academia, journalism and sport and will be there from September 26 to October 16.

Organized by the Government of Japan through the Cabinet Office of Japan under the International Youth Development Exchange Program for 2016, the program aims to promote mutual friendship and understanding between Japanese youths and youths of other 14 countries.

Youths from Austria, Bahrain, Dominican Republic, Laos and Lithuania will also be attending the program.
