Everyday People: Margaret Aka

I’m also the first female in my country to hold an OFC B Licence and the first female to coach a team in our men’s National Soccer League.

I am from the village Guhi in West New Britain Province and I come from a family of five siblings – three brothers and one sister.

My late parents raised me on the values of selflessness, kindness and respect.

In 2013, I was volunteering as a Grassroots and Youth coach and was appointed Just Play Project Manager the following year.

‘Even the lights are off’: Drastic cost-cutting measures revealed as Euro giants weather $2.1bn storm

Years of mismanagement left Barca forced to offload as many players as they could during the transfer window and saw them unable to re-sign Lionel Messi.

And part of the club’s penny-pinching tactics is to save electricity at the training ground and restricting the players’ use of the facilities.

Now Aguero, who moved to the Nou Camp on a two-year deal from Manchester City in May, has explained how players are required to turn up exactly 30 minutes before training begins, with all lights and electricity turned off until that point.

The camp began on Monday and ended yesterday, where skills and fitness were tested.

Head coach Bob Morris and his assistant Harrison Kamake used the opportunity to check players’ fitness and skill level and to see how they can play together as a team.

He says after this, they will build a squad to meet the best from the Pacific with the aim of winning gold medal.
