Lae to witness NSL grand final rematch

Hekari beats Madang FC

Their game was supposed to be part of the double header games on Saturday 15th July 2023, however, due to flight cancellation and delays were unable to play as they arrived very late on Saturday.

Many fans were disappointed with their no show on the double header, but they did not disappoint the next day for the rescheduled game with Madang FC on Sunday 16th July 2023 at 2pm. The game proved to be tough for both teams.

PNGFA supports beach soccer

On Friday 7th July, PNGFA Facility Manager, Wane Wapung and his team handed over the tools to officials from the Koupa Soccer Association and the working team.

Kaparoko village becomes the second village or association in the country to embrace beach soccer, following in the footsteps of Fisherman Island.

Under the leadership of President, John Kapi Natto, the PNGFA has introduced beach soccer and futsal as new competitions under the PNGFA Competitions Department.

NZ beat Fiji to claim 8th title

An outstanding display from Captain Manaia Elliott was the driving force for the defending champions, scoring twice in the first-half and setting up another as the Kiwis took control in the opening 45 minutes at HFC Bank Stadium.

New Zealand threatened from the off, pinning Fiji deep in their half and able to quell any threats of counter-attacks from the hosts.

Fiji looked to rely on the pace and athleticism of Preeya Singh and Kasanita Tabua to create chances but more often than not found themselves swamped by their opponents defence.

Lae City FC reigns

The eight times and current NSL champion carry on a legacy raised over a period of 10 years is now back under the control of inaugural franchise owner, the Lae City Authority (LCA).

Lae City FC Season 2023 is significant under the inaugural franchise ownership of the municipal authority of the second city of PNG, the Lae City Authority (LCA).

The LCA through chairman and Member for Lae, John Rosso, takes over the rein from the Lae Biscuit Company.

Fiji stop PNG campaign in OFC U19 match

The match, held at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, Fiji, ended with a 2-0 victory for the Fiji team.

Although Coach Susan Watpore expressed her disappointment with the result, she was pleased with the improved performance displayed by her team. Fiji managed to score a goal in each half of the match, but Watpore commended her players for their efforts.

Improved performance expected

The match is scheduled to kick off at 2pm local time in Papua New Guinea.

Watpore has called upon the services of Australia-based player Malinu Raminai to start in the forward position alongside Nenny Elipas. Captain Sagude Zale will play as a flanker with support from the midfield out wide. 
On the opposite flank, Christie Maneu will hold her position, while Mareerose Wadunah and Aileen David will occupy the central midfield.

Kapuls learn from defeat

This was the message from PNG Kapuls Coach, Harrision Kamake when arriving back in the country on Sunday 25th June. He said the men’s national football team that went for the trials are a very young side and will only going to get better with exposure.

The Kamake and the officials took the friendly matches against Singapore and Malaysia as the opportunity to expose the young players at the international scene.

Two-Way Battle for OFC Title

One of these two teams will walk away with the title after final matches this Saturday to wrap up the tournament.

AS Academy remains undefeated throughout the competition registering three wins after coming off the bye in round one. This puts them in the box seat to snatch the first Women’s OFC title.

Their recent 5 - 0 win against Kiwi Football Club of Fiji yesterday was a much more convincing victory they have had so far. It will boost their morale going into the final match on Saturday.

Ibrahimović was out of contract with the Serie A club at the end of the season and Milan had already announced there would be a special ceremony after its match against Hellas Verona to bid farewell to the 41-year-old Swede.

But Ibrahimović later revealed in a news conference that no one knew the big news he was about to drop.

"Even my family didn't know, because I wanted that when I announced it, everyone heard it at the same time," he said.
