On Tuesday (local time), Mr Monroy again escaped with his life, but for the first time there were bodies strewn about as he rushed to rescue his family from the scenes of carnage emerging from shattered stalls that had bustled with Christmas cheer moments earlier.

At least 32 people died and dozens were injured when the huge fireworks bazaar on the northern fringe of Mexico City exploded in a dazzling array of lethal pyrotechnics that razed the marketplace to a blasted plain of smoking rubble.

Dreamworld's parent company Ardent Leisure said in a statement this morning that all slides, pools and cabanas at Whitewater World (Dreamworld's water park) will be open, along with several Dreamworld rides and attractions.

While police conduct investigations eye witnesses say the deceased, believed to be in his early 20s was walking home in the evening when he was attacked.

They say the young man and his two younger brothers had gone to town to use the ATM and were walking home to Werei camp when they were attacked by two men.

The reason for the attack is unknown at this stage.

Police say the deceased received a heavy blow to his head and had fallen into a nearby river called

 “Wara pukpuk”.

Residents who rushed to the commotion found the body lying in the river.

The crash still remains under investigation.

However, Pato has expressed “sincere heartfelt sympathy on the tragic loss’’ and assured the immediate relatives of the victim that PNG officials were liaising with US authorities, and have been told to extend consular support to the immediate family.

He has affirmed that the next course of action will be undertaken once a full incident brief is furnished to the Department of Foreign Affairs.
